My First Year at TakeOneTV
I have been working at TakeOneTV as a marketing assistant for just over a year now while doing my digital marketing apprenticeship. It’s been an exciting year for me, I’ve had the opportunity to learn so many new things, gain new skills and meet new people. So to celebrate one year with TakeOneTV, I thought it would be nice to take a little look at some of the things I’ve been doing.
Projects I’ve Worked On
During my first year, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a vast range of different projects. As I am the marketing assistant, I assist in all marketing activities for TakeOneTV and I am currently responsible for running a few of our client’s social media accounts. But over the year I have also worked on animation projects, product demos, corporate events, interviews, filming on location, marketing campaigns, operated autocue in our studio, assisted our qualified in-house drone pilot and attending networking meetings to share the TakeOneTV story.
One of the things that I like the most about working at TakeOneTV is the fact that every project is different so you never know what to expect and that makes it interesting. You can never tell how long it’s going to take to finish a project until you start because each project comes with its own set of challenges.
Some projects require us to work longer hours, these are normally ones where we have to go and film on a location. I remember my first experience of filming on location was in London on a really hot summer’s day and we couldn’t open any of the windows because the noise outside was too loud and would have interfered with the audio tracks. I wrote a blog about my first shoot, you can read it here.
Things I’ve Learnt
I am lucky that I get to work with a great team who has a wide variety of skill sets between them. I’ve learnt a lot from everyone I work with. They’ve taught me so much about the industry and what it’s like just being in a working environment. They’ve also given me a lot of training in this past year; they’ve given me training on how to use different editing software, how to use CMS and CRM systems and how to use a variety of online tools such as MailChimp as well as sending me on a First Aid Training Course and LinkedIn Training Workshop.
However, not all of my training has been in person, they have also allowed me time to complete online training courses such as the Google Analytics IQ, Google Fundamentals of Digital Marketing and Hootsuite Social Marketing. All of this has taught me valuable skills and provided long term qualifications which I now put into practice in the workplace every day, and one day will continue to do so in my future career.
But the main thing that I’ve learnt is the amount of time it takes to complete a project. When I first started I didn’t fully appreciate the amount of time that goes into just planning of a project, let alone how long it would take to get the project done to the high standards required for business promotion.
Some of my favourite times at TakeOneTV have been the events and workshops that I’ve been able to attend like...
The Media Production show in London, where companies within the industry go to show off the latest products and specialists also give presentations on different subjects.
The Business Connexions Charity Golf Day raising funds for Wycombe Homeless Connections. We attended this event as TakeOneTV are founding members of the Business Connexions Networking group; I helped out with the filming of the event, capturing footage of the teams playing golf and getting some external shots as well as testimonials for the group, a couple of clients and ourselves.
Also the Ok Our Kids charity gala dinner, I attended this event with a number of my colleagues as the company supports and has a good relationship with Ok Our Kids. We also did do some filming at the event where we interviewed some celebrities such as Zinzan Brooke (former All Blacks rugby star) and Hattie Little (Archery Paralympian)
These have been some of my best moments because I learnt so many new things, they gave me the opportunity to work in a new environment and though we’ve worked hard we’ve also had a lot of fun along the way.
So to summarize, I feel it’s been a great first year for me. I am extremely grateful for the amazing team that I get to work with and everything that I’ve been able to learn and do so far. Digital Marketing and Video Marketing are changing all the time so it will be great to be able to develop my skills as well as learn new ones. I’m really looking forward to the future.
